Roman
Catholic Gus Garcia, pro-child killing former
city council member and mayor, was honored
as a "man of distinction" at a banquet
held at the posh Four Seasons Hotel in Austin
on March 31, 2004. As council member and mayor,
Mr. Garcia always voted to use city tax dollars
to kill Austin children whose mothers were
poor.
At a news conference
sponsored by Planned parenthood on November
4, 2003, Mr. Garcia said the contractor
boycott of Planned Parenthood's "Choice
Project" abortion facility was "criminal,
no doubt about it".
The banquet honoring Mr. Garcia was
sponsored by the Roman Catholic Seton Healthcare
Network among others.
In
a letter from the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops, they state the following:
The
Catholic community and Catholic institutions
should not honor those
who act in defiance of our fundamental moral
principles. They should not be given awards,
honors or platforms which would suggest
support for their actions.
